 Over thirty hungry souls turned out last Monday evening to “ run for their supper” taking part in the annual Wolds Vets Industrial 3K run.  The warm, muggy evening saw runners of varying abilities and ages run the one lap course around the Pyewipe Industrial estate, and it was Clee AC’s track runner, Mick Jagger, almost a minute ahead of fellow club member John Barker who came away a triumphant winner clocking 9m47s.  After this impressive lead of Mick’s there followed a steady stream of runners all racing to get those vital seconds off the clock.  John Barker’s time of 10.38 was closely followed by Wolds Vets Daphne Ellmore (10.41) and fellow Vet Steve Green running strongly into 3rd male slot, clocking 10.49.
Backing Daphne up well for the Wolds Vets ladies was Deborah Carrouthers who is showing good form with her 13.39 performance, proving that her recent coaching is working through.
Back in the Novartis Sports club, competitors all showered and ready for their “Pie n’ Pea” supper and the draw for spot prizes, an enjoyable evening was had by all, so with this in mind thanks go to Kerry for her hard work in the kitchen on that warm evening in providing those pies so quickly to the hungry souls. Also to those who assisted and marshalled over the run.

Results roundup;

Malcolm White, Ian Moorwood along with Lorrie Wells ran in the Ranby Prison 10K, this flat, multi-terrain event was run on a Sunday evening in hot and humid conditions, making the going very sticky for the competitors.  Malcolm clocked 48.07, with Ian close behind 48.17 and Lorrie Wells finished with 56.13.

These three along with Frank Leadbetter were in action again last Sunday, this time at the Winterton 10 mile. This time Ian was in front of Malc clocking 78.53 to Malc’s 80.42. Frank clocked 82.39 and Lorrie 91.56.  These three will be in action again this week when they run in Friday evenings Scunthorpe 10K, possibly it will be time for them to take a well earned rest from racing soon.

Entries are coming in fast for the Grimsby “Kit Bell” 5 –mile due to be staged on Sunday  17th August, entry is open to all over the age of 15 years and forms are available at all Banana Fitness centres.
